Valperion Really want to know the difference? The only difference on a pvp server, is that imps "gank" reps that try to reach their 1st mission on "Tatooine".
That is about it. AzraelCales Quote: Originally Posted by Valperion. Darth Sypherius - The world means nothing to a dreamer. By all means, please proceed to pull out your MMO walking stick and wave it.
Serbegorn Stovakor The big difference is if you want to do WZ's. World events like the Rakgoul Plague made it impossible for any of my below 50 characters to participate on my PVP server, but on my PVE server all my characters above 28 were able to participate.

If you really want to be on the cutting edge of Operations and Flashpoints, PvE should be your choice. If you must have a Ranked Warzone team, a PvP sever should be your choice. You just need to decide which is most important to you, then go where those opportunities are most abundant. Faction is largely a story choice.
The classes are essentially the same for both sides. Do you want to join the Republic and save the galaxy? Or do you want to join the Sith Empire and conquer it? You will be able to roll characters on both sides, so this is only a matter of what you want to see first.
There are no statistical benefits for playing certain races. The only differences are the social emotes. There is a benefit in your Legacy, however. I will explain Legacy later. Each faction has some races unique to it. The Legacy benefit will allow you unlock a race for the opposing faction by reaching max level with it.
For example, if you level a Chiss operative to 50 on the Sith side, then you will unlock the Chiss race for all classes Republic side. So if you want to play the same race on both sides, choose that race now. When choosing a class, first ask yourself what you want role you want to play: Tanking, damage, or healing.
Tank classes are meant to withstand lots of damage, but deal less damage. Damage classes are meant to deal lots of damage, but cannot take lots of damage. Healers are meant to replenish health lost, but deal very little damage. Tanks and healers are commonly not as plentiful as damage classes.
Tanks and healers are crucial to have in Flashpoints and Operations. Healers are similarly not as plentiful in PvP play. Once you have chosen your role, you will want to narrow your choice by combat style. Each class has its own combat style. Ranged from afar or Melee up close and personal. Here is a breakdown by combat style. For now, choose based on your role and combat preference. This will be what other players call you. Unless you pick an RP server, your name can be slmost anything.
Why respond to a suposed stalker then. This is a forum to discuss tor as for stalkers i could say the same here dude. To play on a pvp server which is the kind that had this mechanic and then cry because someone uses that mechanic is an entitlement issue. The cry babies are not the only ones that matter The game was intended to have this type of play hence the open world pvp achievements. If it were possible to get the achievements only at the level the planet was then that would have been cool.
But hundreds to kills in levels? Lets be realistic. On a related topic, this move only makes sense if they plan to eventually merge the servers because now all servers are the same. There will now be literally no difference between a pve and a pvp server.
If the server pops are really getting to the low levels that they were summer , then they will merge them. It might just take a year like it did last time. Some people, like me, rolled on pvp to be with my friends, when they left I was stuck on a shitty server. Some people like the option of open world pvp, but when they are just trying to lvl and some asshat, 30 lvls above them kills them 15 times in a row that is out of hand.
Giving people the option to change to PVE in no way affects you, unless of course you are the sandbox bully. Actually it does affect me in that if I want to legitimately get my open world pvp kill achievements, e. This whole argument of I want to open world pvp, but only when I want to is what pve servers were for. You could flag yourself and then be targetable by the opposite faction.
It cost what 90CC now? But to do away with pvp servers is an extreme reaction. I did transfer when they dropped the price. A high level keeps his abilities and their levels unchanged along with a few player statistics. A high level player still has advantage over low levels. Even the empty PvP server are laggy. This will help. My question is like other games can they allow your username be your guild name so all your toons can be in one guild and not take up so much space individualy.
Hopefully they use this as a opportunity to both make money and make the player base a little happy with a major discount on rename tokens. Shenanigans inbound. The problem is this. But you really like to PvP mostly and do some PvE to the side and your friend has it exactly the other way around.
Secondly, even though they are saying there will be no megaservers, I do believe that some servers will be merged in the not too distant future because of population issues. There is really no point in keeping PvP servers anymore. The majority of PvP players can be found on PvE servers already.
They all quit and I was stuck there. As it was too costly to transfer all my alts until the 90cc. Maybe because pvp flag exists in pve servers and if enemy with pvp flag steps into your aoe when you fighting computer enemies you become pvp flagged and this is not honorable duel.
That was removed from the game a long time ago. I used to do that to people, it does nothing now. Interesting another person who i never mentioned or heard of is upset about the carebear comment as if i were speaking about them personally hmm…. I think he meant the transfers Secret World has. You are on a particular server but you can transfer your character to another at any time without cost. If I remember correctly, your character goes back to your server instance once you log out.
Na, this idea was actually one I discussed with a friend about a year ago. Each planet will now have two instances by default — one with world PvP enabled, one without. So, easy daily farm and nobody stealing mission objectives. I get to play on a high-pop server with a nicer economy instead of relying on ToFN ghost town, and I can get world PvP just the same as I would normally. Absolutely nothing like that!
General chat channels extend across all the different dimensions in TSW excluding the foreign language dimensions , and there are no mail restrictions.
You can switch between those at will. These two instances presumably follow the existing rules for creating new instances so when one PvE instance becomes too full, a new PvE instance is created, and so too with PvP.
No matter your server, you can change to pvp or pve at any time by right clicking your portrait. More than likely it instances. So each planet has two instances. Unless they group up with someone from a PVE server. So Orcs and such are at a disadvantage. If you are, might as well use WHO for that as well, since they had the same messed up faction balance in that game as well.
Mainly because the higher levels have more of their abilities in play, access to more types of stats, and access to stronger passives. What i meant by though by lotros pvp is how its all in the moors and not worldwide ganking like how tor is it would solve that problem but i do agree that levely sync needs to be fixed is an understatement.
You know what they should have done? They should have put a 24 hour CD on targeting a player after you had killed them if the difference in level was say 5 lower than yours unless they flagged themselves. That way no one could camp and kill lowbies, but could still work on the achievements. So, in theory, the ganker could kill you at least 10 times that way…. Probably very few of even the worst offenders would take the time to do that. Any level 60 not completely AFK can just faceroll a level It kinda screwed up duelling for same-level players as well.
Duels are pretty pathetic now, and they get worse the lower down you go. Way shorter due to the diminished health pool and strange syncing for secondary stats. PvP has nothing to do with it, essentially. I would think a big disadvantage is the lowbie might be playing his class for the first time while the high level may have been playing his class since launch. So even aside from the skills, there is a tipped scale….
They never said level sync was to stop ganking. That was just to make it so you can gain xp for doing old content and play with low level friends without ruining their game experience. Not really. Level Sync only normalizes your level and stats. You still wreck lowbie characters with your high-level passives and abilities. Wait somebody clarify this for me. I can play ops with ppl from a PVE server? The point of this is so that they remove any reasons for people to want to stick to their dying servers.
Meaning, that PvPer will be more inclined to jump ship from their dying server and switch to a more populated one that used to just be PvE focused. Players choose what they want to play in and flick a switch to play that way. Can I use the GTN on any server by switching server-instance? Or would I still have to make an acct on each server to do so? Switching server instances dosnt switch you to a different server. You are still on your selected server.
