They run around the zone and the group respawns instantly after the last of the 10 horses is killed. They spawn about 50 yards east of the yeti cave and run west. I could not skin them fast enough so I got two people from my guild to help me with it.
We farmed about leather in 10 minutes. This is by far the best way to farm medium and light leather. I suggest standing farther down the path so the instant respawn does not overwhelm you while you are trying to skin. Farming solo for 10 minutes as a high level player i was able to farm: 80 medium leather, 80 light leather, 10 medium hide, and 8 light hide. They are plentiful, easy to kill, and give medium leather from skinning almost every time.
Only drawback is that the terrain in the area is a pain with a lot of crevasses - if you're able to fly that's a non issue I suppose. If I had a bigger need for Medium Leather, I would have stayed longer.
Level up! Comment by Caliisto Medium leather farming from one lvl 85 Boomkin's perspective Go to Wetlands.
Lazy day Stand at Do not move from this spot. Note: If the NPCs are not at their spawn points and are in combat with the Dragonmaw blokes either kill them to reset them or wait for them to be killed before starting your Odyssey. Comment by A good place place is wetlands at 68,47 on the road south east of greenwardens grove, there is a battle between Ebon slavehunters and dragonmaw whelpstealers, the slavehunters drop light or medium leather, no scraps, and various cloth, they respawn as soon as they are killed so you can just stand in one spot their spawn point beside baracade on road is best and kill 4 mobs and they will have respawned before you skin them , it's actually quite hard to keep up and you will find yourself standing in a pile of bodies as you can't skin fast enough.
Comment by Guanyin I have been farming in Razorfen Kraul, the boars in the lower part of the dungeon. Easily pulled in one pack, no other trash around there. The only downside being the instance limit, as it takes about 5 mins to run in, kill all those boars, run out and reset. Comment by eschient If you're higher level and farming leather for power leveling LW, I'd highly suggest starting out in Razorfen Kraul.
The bats and boars drop medium and heavy leather, sometimes x2, and occasionally Heavy Hides. Agathelos the Raging always drops a Heavy Hide. It's slower than out in the world for normal leather, but I was getting a horrible drop on hides elsewhere. Comment by lehearts a good place to farm this is at the Green Belt in Wetlands, coordinates 66, Comment by Irishwhiskey absolutely the best place is in southern barrens just south of hunter hill.
The raptors there gave me 46 heavy leathers 76 medium leathers 9 medium hides 3 heavy hides in 30 minutes. There are always at least 2 raptors in the area so i was gathering up at a time then loot n skin and there was always at least 2 more to go get. Comment by TimeTraveler If you are squishy or can't fly, try coming in on flight path to Honor Hold Alliance go south on the road just past Hunter Hill.
You will see a group of terrortooth raptors with some little huts, spaced far enough a part that you can kill them individually if you need to. They respawn very quickly and you just make keep circling them until you have enough. There is some fighting going on in an adjacent field but if you are careful you will not aggro them. Comment by swiftouch I'm going to have to go with just south of Hunter Hill too. It's near flight paths for Ally and Horde.
I tried RFK looking for reliable 2 leather drops. I have been looking for a reliable 2 drop of anything I tried south of mudsproket in swamp too. South of hunter hill is best. The respawn rate is great. Make sure youre in a level 23 guild or you're just wasting your time. The extra mats from Bountiful Bags is nice. Comment by I've found if you're higher level with an aoe ability these Wild Horses are your best bet for Light Leather and Medium Leather.
I found if you stand in one spot these horses will not path through or by you. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but you must fly around on their route for them to show up. Once you kill all in the pack of eight make your way clockwise towards the spawn point.
I Know others have mentioned killing the packs of Wild Horses in previous posts, but think it's easier to learn from a video rather than text. Grab a bag of chips, a soda, and just bomb around killing Rams. Comment by Arjayemm I have used the raptors south of Hunter's Hill for medium leather before now but since patch 5. The raptors in the northern and southern part of the Wetlands, as marked on the map below, are around level They are exactly in the level range where medium leather can be skinned.
Another advantage of this zone is that it is mostly an alliance zone. While the mobs in this zone are a little bit lower level, it is much safer to farm here than Hillsbrad Foothills for example. At least for Horde players, since the zone is mostly for them.
